Creative Calligraphy

Displayed the word “Smoke” in the form of smoke coming from a cigarette. The cigarette is placed within the mouth of slightly realistic female. Calligraphy was done in graphite on copy paper. Expressed creativity with describing a word.

Travel Poster

Gardner_Poster

Displayed texture in the background of tradition paper that Japanese artwork has often been done on. In the lower half is displayed traditional architecture. In the top part, there is the red sun of the Japanese flag and the word Japan. To the left, there is a cherry blossom branch, with a bunch of fallen flowers. I choose the cherry blossom because it is indigenous to Japan and their national flower. The words displayed are in a font titled, Japanese Style and Japanese Tourists.

Attempted to use Lichtentein’s style of artwork. Displayed a photo of myself with a quote from Ryuk Shinigami, from Death Note, when he was describing his feelings about apples in the human world. I thought this quote was appropriate for me due to the fact that my face portrayed that I was being in a sarcastic, deep thought.

Roy Lichtenstein

Roy Lichtenstein

He was known for stylized artwork that displayed characters from many different cartoons. Though this made him popular, he failed to credit the original artists; therefore, creating his downfall. Lichtenstein’s work today inspires more abstract comic-book pieces.

I am attempting his style of work with a self portrait photo of myself, demonstrating and displaying some sort of sarcastic words.

Emancipation Proclamation

emp_pro Freedom

Used lyrics from Wisdom, Justice, and Love by Linkin Park. Lyrics reflected Martin Luther King Jr.’s feeling over freedom and how we use it. Displayed different types of fonts and sizes, as well as colors. The word freedom is placed in the middle and is “splatter” in a way to show that it is the main idea and overlaps into many different things. Smaller text shows the words “True liberty and freedom is at stake.” These words are smaller to reflect the idea that though it is important, it is often a whispered thought. Not many people sincerely consider whether or not these things are sincerely in our grasps.
